Passion for Worship

Worship Arts is a core ministry of the First Congregational Church of Kalamazoo.

Our Worship Style

Worship at the First Congregational Church is spiritually uplifting and authentic. Every Sunday is a celebration of our personal faith, our fellowship with one another, and our work in the community.

Our talented Worship Arts ministers and staff bring a weekly experience that links our senses to our Spirit and our intellect to our hearts. Every Sunday feels like Easter Sunday and every worship service is a celebration!

The historic sanctuary at FCC was completed in 1928. Its soaring architecture provides an unmatched acoustic experience – not only for our weekly worship but also for concerts and other community events.

Our 50 voice Chancel Choir, directed by Michael Palmer and accompanied by Kory Heitzig, honors the full history of Christian worship expression. From Medieval chant to contemporary praise, from Mozart to spirituals, ye celebrate the entire catalog of our worship heritage! In addition to the choir ministry, we are blessed with a talented Bell Choir, children’s choir, and various other chamber ensembles.

Nursery and Toddlers

The Nursery (newborns and non-walking infants) and Toddler Room (walking babies and toddlers) are located off the North lobby during the 10 am worship hour. They can be picked up in the their respective rooms immediately after church by their parents.

Kids’ Church

Kids who are pre-K through 5th grade attend Kids Church for the latter half of Sunday morning worship. Our two classes dig deep into one Bible Story each month, giving kids the chance to connect that story with their own lives.

Kids’ Church does not meet on Communion Sundays.

Middle and High School

Those students in grades 6-12 will remain in worship. But are encouraged to join our Youth Group events throughout the week.
