Rev. Mary Austin is a Presbyterian pastor, happy to be a guest in the United Church of Christ. Since her ordination, she has served as an associate pastor, hospice chaplain and Pastor / Head of Staff. She is a regular contributor to The Immediate Word, a weekly site that connects the scriptures with current events. She blogs at Stained Glass in the City on no particular schedule, and is the author of two books of sermons. She’s been published in the devotionals These Days and the Upper Room.
Her passion is making faith relevant to everyday life, and helping people find their own spiritual gifts and ways to serve God.
She is married to Carl Smith, who is happily retired from a career in accounting and finance. Their daughter, Lucy, is a young adult.
In her spare time, she enjoys eating fruit pie, walking, seeing friends and visiting small towns.
