Cindy holds a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from Western Michigan University. She has been a church musician since the 5th grade, and has served churches in Illinois, Ohio, and Michigan as Director of Music, organist, pianist, choir director, and handbell director. In addition to her position as Director of Music at First Congregational Church, Cindy teaches Musicianship courses for Musical Theatre Performance majors at Western Michigan University, is a Music Director in the WMU Theatre Department, and is a freelance collaborative pianist in the WMU School of Music. She was the Director of Choirs at Portage Central High School and Middle School for 22 years where she directed 6 choirs daily and was the Music Director for the annual musical production at both schools. Cindy’s additional Music Director credits include the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre, Farmers Alley Theatre, the Barn Theatre and the former Whole Art Theatre. She has also served as Guest Conductor for the Kalamazoo Singers. She is a member of the American Choral Directors Association, Handbell Musicians of America, Michigan School Vocal Music Association, and is a past member of the American Guild of Organists. She serves on the Kalamazoo Bach Festival Board of Directors, and in her free time she enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren, hiking, biking, photography, and visiting the beach and state and national parks with her spouse, Amy.
