Sundays at 10am!

Worship at the First Congregational Church has been described as “traditional in practice, but modern in love.” You will receive a print bulletin on your way into worship and find hymnals in the pews. You’ll see folks in blazers and ties, and others in jeans and t-shirts. You’ll see plenty of gray hair, and plenty of kids making use of the Kid’s Corner directly in front of the pulpit. You’ll hear an organ, choir, bell choir, as well as a variety of guest musicians. You’ll see stained glass windows and crayon drawings, and beautiful fresh flower displays. You’ll meet single-parent families, same-gender couples, and trans and nonbinary youth.

Bringing Kids to Worship

What We Believe

Accessibility

The Michigan Ave. entrance to the church is fully accessible on Sunday mornings.
Hearing devices may be checked out from the Welcome Desk to use during worship.
All first floor restrooms have wheelchair accessible stalls. An elevator provides access to the second floor and the basement.

Parking

Limited parking is available in the church lot on Michigan Avenue; all street parking downtown is free on Sundays.

Childcare

A staffed nursery for babies and toddlers is located on the basement level. You can sign your kids in at the Welcome Desk near the Michigan Ave. entrance, and get directions to the nursery.

Greeters and Ushers

On Sunday mornings, you will be greeted by a volunteer as you enter the church building. Near the entrance, you will find a table with laminated nametags--this table also has sticker nametags visitors can use. As you enter the sanctuary, an usher will offer you a worship bulletin. This will have unison prayers, hymn numbers, words to sung responses, and information about all kinds of upcoming events.
