Passion for Worship
Worship Arts is a core ministry of the First Congregational Church of Kalamazoo.
Worship at the First Congregational Church is spiritually uplifting and authentic. Every Sunday is a celebration of our personal faith, our fellowship with one another, and our work in the community.
Our talented Worship Arts ministers and staff bring a weekly experience that links our senses to our Spirit and our intellect to our hearts. Every Sunday feels like Easter Sunday and every worship service is a celebration!
The historic sanctuary at FCC was completed in 1928. Its soaring architecture provides an unmatched acoustic experience – not only for our weekly worship but also for concerts and other community events.
Our 40 voice Chancel Choir, directed by Michael Palmer and accompanied by Kori Heitzig, honors the full history of Christian worship expression. From Medieval chant to contemporary praise, from Mozart to spirituals, we celebrate the entire catalog of our worship heritage! In addition to the choir ministry, we are blessed with a talented Bell Choir, children’s choir, and various other chamber ensembles.

Nursery and Toddlers
The Nursery (birth to 14 months) and Toddler Room (15 months to 3 years) are located off the North lobby during the worship hour. They can be picked up in the their respective rooms immediately after church by their parents.
Children (K through Grade 5) attend worship until after Children’s Time, when they are dismissed to Kids’ Church. In the Kids’ Chapel, children give thanks to God for events in their own lives and hear the day’s Bible story. In the activity room, students move at their own pace through monthly-themed activity stations where they can engage with and begin to live out their faith. Kids return to the sanctuary after the Offering and parents can connect with them in the back pews after worship.
