Emily is a native of Kalamazoo. She is a student of Kalamazoo Valley Community College, hoping to transfer to Western Michigan University to pursue a degree in Psychology or Social Work.
She comes to First Congregational Church from Portage United Church of Christ, where she was active in youth group while in high school. She went on several mission trips to Kentucky, Tennessee and South Dakota. She also sang in the praise band and taught Sunday School. Emily began working with children as a baby sitter and then worked in the nursery at PUCC for a short time. She has a 19 month old stepson, Dakota, and a six month old son, August.
Until her son was born, she worked as a cashier at Big Apple Bagel and Big Burrito. Most people, though, recognize her from her time at Harding’s on West Main, where she was a bagger and cashier for nearly two and a half years. She loves hiking, reading, music, playing with her son and stepson, and is an avid history buff.
Currently, Emily is reformulating how things are done in the Nursery and Toddler Rooms at FCC, so stay tuned — exciting things are coming!
